Berliner Höhenweg — The Zillertal High-Route
The Berliner Höhenweg (also known as the Zillertaler Runde) is one of the most prestigious high-altitude treks in the Alps. This 8-day circuit traverses the heart of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, staying consistently between 2,000 and 3,000 meters. The route is characterized by steep granite passes, ancient glacial plateaus, and overnight stays in historic, palatial huts like the Berliner Hütte—a designated monument. It is a world of sharp ridges, emerald reservoirs, and the last remaining glaciers of the Zillertal range.
Located inside Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. Starting with incredible views of Cuernos del Paine and Cerro Paine, the day hike to Grey Glacier and Lago Grey features stunning lake and mountain views throughout most of the trail. The 12 km trek is considered one of the easier hikes of the multi-day Torres del Paine W trek, beginning at Camp Paine Grande. The mostly flat and shaded sections offer captivating scenery culminating in a short rocky climb near the end to witness the massive Grey Glacier calving into the glacial lake.
