Carved by the roaring Jinsha River (the upper reaches of the Yangtze), the gorge separates the snow-capped peaks of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,596m) and the Haba Snow Mountain (5,396m). The world-famous 'High Trail' traverses the steep western slopes of the Haba Snow Mountain, offering dizzying views down to the raging river rapids thousands of meters below.
