The loop of the lords. The Kepler Track (60km / 37 miles) is one of the most accessible yet epic New Zealand Great Walks. Unlike the Routeburn or Milford, it is a circular loop starting and finishing near the town of Te Anau. The track was custom-built for trekking and features a spectacular 20km section of exposed alpine ridgelines that provide 360-degree views of the Fiordland wilderness. It traverses through varied landscapes including limestone bluffs, alpine tussock, and dense beech forests.
Prossautal — A Glacial Box Valley in Hohe Tauern
Deep within the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Prossautal is a valley that branches off the Kötschachtal near Bad Gastein. This long but mostly flat trail follows the Kötschach Ache river into a classic glacial box valley. The rock walls on either side rise significantly, with multiple thin waterfalls cascading down the granite faces. The trail ends at the Alpengasthof Prossau, a traditional alpine inn positioned near the base of the Tischler glacier.
