Located in the Western Ghats—one of the world's primary biodiversity hotspots—this trail takes you to the summit of Tadiandamol (1,748m), the highest peak in Coorg. The hike winds through coffee plantations, dark evergreen forests, and opens up to steep grassy ridges. It offers beautiful views of the unique Shola forest ecosystems and the rolling green hills of Karnataka.
Mission Directive / X-Factor
“Shola Forest Biodiversity. The 'X-Factor' of Tadiandamol is the stunning transition between spice estates and 'Shola' ecosystems—patches of stunted tropical forests nestled in valleys. The trail provides an incredible immersion into South India's nature, famous for its endemic birdlife and lush green atmosphere.”
Hazard Assessment
During the monsoon and post-monsoon months, the forest floor is teeming with leeches.
MITIGATION: Wear high-top boots and 'leech socks' (cotton leggings); carry a small spray bottle of salt water or eucalyptus oil to detach them; avoid trekking during heavy cloudbursts.
Elephant movement occurs in parts of the region; check locally before departure.
MITIGATION: Avoid trekking in the late evening or early night; listen for the sounds of cracking bamboo; if elephants are near, back away slowly and never block their path.
