Hazard Assessment
Rio gets incredibly hot and humid, transforming a short hike into a strenuous workout.
MITIGATION: Hike early in the morning (start at 7 AM max) or late afternoon. Carry plenty of water.
The trail is frequently muddy, especially after tropical rain.
MITIGATION: Wear running shoes/light hikers with solid traction; avoid hiking immediately after a heavy downpour.

Vidigal to Trailhead
Arrive at the base of Vidigal, take a moto-taxi or Kombi (van) to the 'Vila Olímpica' where the trail officially starts.
Ascent to the Peak
Climb up through the Atlantic Forest, passing a few lower viewpoints before the final steep section to the peak.
Descent
Hike/slide back down the muddy trail, then walk or take transport back down through Vidigal.
