Technical Summary

The Krimml Waterfalls are the tallest in Europe, dropping 380 meters in three massive tiers from the Krimmler Ache glacial river. The waterfall trail (Wasserfallweg) is a historical path that climbs alongside the falling water, offering multiple viewpoints (Kanzeln) where you can feel the spray and the thunderous power of the water.

The Crux

The Waterfall Mist and The Top Fall. The 'X-Factor' is the dense mist from the falls, which creates a noticeable microclimate that many visitors find refreshing. Climbing past the roaring middle fall to the serene, flat valley above the top fall provides a dramatic contrast: from one of the most powerful waterfall environments in Austria to a silent, high-alpine paradise in just 90 minutes.
